How
is a map requested?
Requests for direct embedded maps is only
by one of post code, lat/long or OS grid
reference.
How
is a map delivered?
Our maps can be delivered in two different
methods. The first of these is Direct Embedding,
where the map image is placed directly in
a page using the <img src= > tag. Using
this method reduces the functionality of
the maps as there are no navigation controls
available.
The second method is templated delivery,
where the map is delivered in a customisable html page
which provides for navigation controls and
further extended features, however the template
that powers the page must be held on our
server.
Can
I place my own icons on a map?
Yes, the icon has to be a 256 colour gif
in GIF87 or GIF89 format. Animated gifs are
not supported. Unsupported formats will not
be displayed.
Can
these icons be clickable?
Again, yes it is possible to make icons "clickable",
which then can work as a standard hyperlink.
Can
I specify the size of the map?
Both the height and width can be specified
up to a maximum of 600 x 600 pixels.
Can
I specify the zoom level of the map?

level maps (the default), 1:50,000 and 1:200,000,
all of which are selectable.
Can
I navigate around the map?
Navigation controls are only available when
using templated delivery, these allow users
to scroll North, South, East and West or
change the zoom level. These features can
also be turned off if they are not required.
What
are the costs?
The standard Charge is £500 per 50,000
impressions (ex. vat) with no set-up fees or yearly
charges.
What
is classed as an impression?
An impression is classed as a delivered
map. Where navigation controls are used each "movement" (north,
south, east, west or zooming in or out) is
classed as an impression (i.e. if a user
requests a map, then scrolls one square north,
then zooms out a single level this is classed
as 3 map impressions)
Is
there a minimum contract?
As we base our charges on the number of
impressions, there is no minimum contract.
